Beauty: Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation Review

So it's getting warmer now, I want/need to ditch the heavy foundations, but don't wanna drop that heavy, border line, caked on coverage. Oh the dilemma?

Getting some bits on Cult Beauty, and taking full advantage of the free Summer gift bag that was on offer, I stumbled across the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation, the description sounded like everything I was looking for,  and more. "Aqua" screams hydration, "Luminous" screams super dreamy glowy skin, something I crave every damn day, given my skin is as dry as dust.

So I delved deeper, and well it got better. Featherlight formula (tick), dewy skin (double tick), and an airbrushed finish that you can build on (TICK).

I opted for the shade fair, and it is a perfect colour match. Housed in a tall large glass bottle, with a dark brown top, there is a large type of button at the top of the lid.

When unscrewed, there is a pipette. Hmmmm yes I wasn't bowled over. I like a good old fashioned pump. After a couple of minutes staring at it, I figured that you press the button at the top, to fill up the pipette, and then press again to dispense. Honestly, this is all to fiddly for me. GIVE ME THEE PUMP!

I put around a teaspoon amount onto a damp beauty blender,  it has a very runny texture, and when dabbed on the skin, it has a very cooling, comfortable, lightweight and hydrating feel. You can build on the coverage, but for me (and I like heavy coverage), the first layer of coverage is pretty damn good, and I was able to cover all redness, blemishes and dark circles with ease. It  appears very dewy, luminous, and has the most natural finish, yet everything that I wanted covering up, ( I get a lot of redness around my T-Zone) was banished, all without feeling like I had any product on my face at all. TIS MAGIC!

Blended in. (Below).

Damn look at that coverage and finish.

Overall feels for this product are,  I really LOVE it. It blurs fine lines, and creates a natural youthful luminosity to the skin, (so quoting Becca there), but damn it is true.

I could not wear this foundation, and not use a finishing powder though. As the day progresses it does get more dewy, borderline greasy, so a quick touch up with finishing powder is a must. This doesn't bother me like it usually would, because the coverage and finish doesn't budge about, so it takes 2 seconds to dust, and hey presto you are done.

I thoroughly recommend this, for people with normal, dry or dehydrated skin, but you oily/combo skin folk, sorry just steer clear  - this ain't for you.

Have you tried anything from Becca? What are your favourite Summer foundations?

  1. I was torn between this, the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation & Armani Maestro Glow. I bought the other two, but having read this post, would like to add this to my collection! xx

  3. This sounds like a foundation I might get on with, but the pipet puts me off. Do you think it's something you could replace with a pump? Like buying the NARS pump separate to the foundation? Xx

    1. Haha a beauty scientist. It is so annoying. I am having to balance my beauty blender in between my legs and use two hands to use it. xxx
