Beauty: Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Foundation & Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Skin Defense Primer

Anything that has glow written on, well I am all over it.

I had a play around the the Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Foundation at a local counter, and was blown away by the formula. It was so different to anything I have ever tried before.

Described as:

"The invisible Glow Revolution Bi-phase nourishing make-up that mixes skincare oils infused with pure pigments - it offers nourishing comfort and a lasting glow."

Wowzers that is a mouthful. But you gotta admit it all sounds pretty spectacular.

The shades (shade number 4 is featured in this post) I feel, at first glance, seem dark and edging towards the orange side of town, but once blended into the skin it looks completely different. It is a really odd one, so trying at a counter first is a must I feel.

Housed in a glass jar with a pipette dispenser. A good shake is a must before you use it. The liquid is oil based opposed to water so a good shake is necessary. It is a very light runny fluid, and feels like a lightweight, dryish oil on application. It feels more like skincare than make-up, (which i suppose it is down to the skin nourishing oils) and this is an element I just adore.

After a little mess about, and due to the fluid being really runny, I found the Real Techniques Stippling Brush best to use when applying the product to the skin, and then I blend with a beauty blender to banish any brush lines.

You only need the tiniest amount, the liquid goes a long way, and at £40 a pop, I am glad this is the case - as it will last a good while.

When on the skin, it is very comfortable to wear, and feels silky, weightless and hydrating. It doesn't in any way cling to dry skin. The coverage is light, and I mainly reach for this when I am having a good skin day. It evens skin tone, covers slight redness and dark patches - but anything more I feel it struggles with.

That being said, the natural sheer, glowy finish is super flattering and so gorgeous, I really don't mind reaching for a concealer to deal with any other issues.

The product stays on all day, and you can feel it on the skin, yup sounds weird, but I assure you it's not, it feels so hydrating and nourishing, so as you can imagine it is super comfortable. But don't fret, it also stays put, and is very long lasting. I can wear it 8am - 6pm and it does not budge.

I am blown away. This foundation is like nothing I have in my make-up collection. My skin looks so healthy, dewy and glowy in a natural and flattering type of way. I really like my face with this on.

If you have dry skin and not blemish prone, and like a sheer dewy coverage then I 100% recommend.

If you have oily and blemish prone skin, then I feel this isn't for you.

I also feel this is a daytime foundation with a SPF of 30,  you are very likely to get flashback from a camera, for this reason alone I wouldn't wear it of an evening.

Now onto the Maestro UV Skin Defense Primer, errrmmmm this is gonna be a quick one, unfortunately I had a reaction to the primer and my forehead and cheeks had little bumps all over for 2 days. I had used the foundation alone, with a different primer for a week or so before, and it was absolutely fine. As soon as I introduced the primer I had a reaction. So it was washed straight off.

(On further inspection and reading about online, a lot of people have had a reaction to it).

If you really want to try this primer, try a sample first, I broke out more or less straight away, so trying before you buy is a must in my opinion, when it it comes to this product.

Have you tried any of the above products? What is your favourite foundation at the mo?

  2. I must dig this foundation out & use it again because I bought it during the summer but it was too light for me at that point. Will skip the primer though! xx

  3. This sounds fantastic, particular for my skin type. I trued the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation a couple of years ago &, apart from initially finding it a little heavy, I really liked it. I'm definitely going to be picking up a sample of the Maestro Glow to test it out. Such a shame about the primer though. Xx
