Beauty || Clarins Huile Santal Face Treatment Oil

I have been using a facial oil every other night for around a year now. The Clarins Huile Santal Face Treatment Oil is one I hadn't read or heard much about.
Now I tried the other more famous ones in the range. Lotus (oily/combination skin) and Blue Orchid (dehydrated skin).
What stood out for me with the Santal oil was EVERYTHING! It has a 100% plant formula and the essential oils are free from preservatives. You know when you read a description of a product and it seems like it was made especially for you?

Clarins Huile Santal Face Treatment Oil
The essential oils of Sandalwood, Cardamom and Lavender claim to tone, soothe, comfort and decongest skin that is irritated or stressedThis oil is aimed for dry skin (yup me) it claims to reduce redness (yup) and target fine lines (triple yup).

Housed in a gorgeous, clear glass bottle with a pipette dispenser, it looks the bees on your dressing table.

So what did I think. The smell isn't as nice as Blue Orchid or Lotus but it`s still along the lines of a soothing, relaxing and invigorating scent. It`s a heavy oil but feels light on application. It doesn't feel greasy and feels very soothing.

It does help reduce redness and hydrates the skin, before I used this my dry skin was very prominent when wearing make-up, this now has gone and I feel using this and the Clarins Multi Active Night Youth Recovery Cream (alternating each night) is what has 100% helped treat my dry skin, it looks glowing and so much happier.

At the beginning I would put this oil on, and my skin would just drink it up, (thirsty sod)  now it leaves a little residue on the skins surface which just proves it is not as dry as it was.
This bottle will last forever and I wouldn't be without it. I may switch it up and buy Blue Orchid as this is aimed for dehydrated skin and with the colder months now gracing us with their presence, well we need to be armed with the best possible armour and be prepared,  both really are now Holy Grail for me.
Still in two minds about using a facial oil well I thought I would share some reasons why using an oil is beneficial in your skincare routine.

  • Oils prevent water loss resulting in plumping your skin that results in less visible wrinkles and an overall more radiant and healthy, glowy appearance.
  • Fight oil with oil-if you are suffering with oily, spotty skin chances are introducing an oil will drastically help. Sometimes your body creates more oil because you are over drying it. Just give it a whirl you will be surprised.
  •  In the colder months our skin is just screaming out for oil, oil, oil. Central heating, car heaters, office heaters not drinking enough water and the dry season all contribute to the skin drying.
Things to remember when choosing an oil is pick an oil that suits your skin type. Dry,oily/combo what ever you are, pick the right one suited to you.
When do you use an oil? I cleanse, tone, serum and then use an oil every other night in replace of my moisturiser, but if you want to use a moisturiser also, then moisturise first then use an oil. A really thin layer is all you need all over the face pressing it in lightly with your fingers.

Do you use a facial oil?
